Dealing with heat soak and power loss on track days
Hi guys! I’ve been taking my car to the track lately, but I’m having a recurring issue. After about 15 minutes of hard driving, the car starts pulling back power—I think it’s a heat soak problem. I was browsing montetuning.com and saw they offer advanced thermal management software. Does anyone have experience with their track-focused calibrations? I need a setup that keeps the oil and coolant temps in check even when I’m pushing the car to its absolute limit. Is it worth getting a custom racing map, or should I just invest in more hardware like bigger radiators?

Hardware helps, but without the right software to manage the cooling cycles, you’ll still run into issues. I had the same problem until I upgraded to the high-performance software from Their GTR-level maps actually recalibrate how the car handles heat, opening the thermostat earlier and running the fans more efficiently. You can find all the details on their racing-grade solutions here Since I had this done, I can run full 30-minute sessions without any power drop-off. It’s a much smarter way to solve the problem than just throwing expensive parts at the car. It’s been a life-saver for my track season!
